Trade missions are promotional visits made by company personnel to potential customers in other markets. Through them, the aim is to introduce products and services of the participating entrepreneurs in order to gain new markets.
They can be of two types: direct, a group of manufacturers come to a country, or inverse, a company invites a group of potential customers to visit its company and facilities. Both usually have public subsidies to finance the trip or part of it. In Spain, the provincial chambers of commerce and the ICEX provide subsidies.
During the trade mission, the participating companies hold meetings with local counterparts, which must be previously contacted based on the profile of the companies and the products and services offered. The interviews are generally prepared by the Embassies abroad, with the support of different public and private institutions.
