The most demanded Chinese products

We are often asked which products we recommend importing from China, but I think the question is not well formulated. What products we recommend importing” is not the same as “themost demanded Chinese products“. I would like to show some of the latter and explain possible advantages and disadvantages of their importation.

Smartphones and tablets. Generally we are talking about products with Android operating system, in most cases imitations of famous brands. Believe it or not, there is not much of a problem with the fact that it is practically plagiarism.

The major drawback is that whoever wants to distribute electronic devices of this type in Spain (for example) has to provide a 2-year warranty. In some Latin American countries this does not happen; each case would have to be looked at separately.

You also need to be careful with the version of Android you are running. Many times we can find Chinese versions that our customers are not going to like too much…

Last but not least, buying in small quantities can be quite complicated. The way to do this is usually by using Aliexpress, but obviously the prices are nowhere near as competitive as buying from the factory. It is best to find a company that is able to supply us with medium quantities (orders of around 5,000 USD) because they are buying more volume from the manufacturer. Separately we will not achieve anything.

– Costume jewelry, jewelry, eyewear and watches. Right now it can be purchased in small quantities at very competitive prices. Even reselling the cheap merchandise leaves a good margin. However, more and more people are finding out about it and a price war has started that will eventually turn it into an unprofitable business. At the moment it is working very well for small entrepreneurs.

– Consumer electronics, USB, MP3, headphones… Although they look like products similar to smartphones and tablets, they work in a different way. In this case the margins are much smaller. In addition, you have to compete with prices of Chinese sites like Dealextreme that are already quite good and take advantage of the economy of scale (they sell so much quantity that they do not charge shipping).

Unlike the first two cases, I would not recommend anyone to get into the consumer electronics business. From my point of view, the margin does not justify the investment, especially if you work with stock.

These are the most demanded products. What would we recommend to import from China? It depends a lot on the customers we have and can get, the distribution lines we have access to, etc.

For example smartphones and tablets are a great business if large orders can be placed. We are also offering high quality Chinese artificial grass at very competitive prices, LEDs and other industrial electronics components such as integrated circuit boards ( PCB ).

As you can see, the most profitable is not always the most obvious. There is life beyond consumer products!
