As we explained in this other article, quality control is one of the most important steps when importing from China, and yet it is also very common to overlook it.
Of all the places in China where quality controls or audits are performed, Shenzhen is probably the most sought after. This is because the city of Shenzhen is home to all the suppliers of cell phones, tablets and electronics in general. Importing cell phones from China is synonymous with importing from Shenzhen.
Let’s take an example:
1. We are a buyer from a Spanish-speaking country and we want to buy 100 Chinese cell phones. We went online.
2. We enter Alibaba, Global Sources or other wholesale portal.
3. We contacted some of them and asked them for quotations, with our best English.
4. We decided to make our first purchase.
At this point, two things can happen: our shipment may be sent in perfect conditions and with everything we want, or problems may arise later (most likely). If the latter happens, we will probably have to return many cell phones and lose money on return shipping.
However, for a very reasonable fee or commission, there are companies in Shenzhen that are dedicated to inspect our shipments to ensure that all the contents are indeed the correct ones and not other models, that the cell phones work perfectly, that there are no damaged parts, etc.
