Importing electronics from China can be a profitable way to source materials for production or finished products for resale. Technical quality has improved significantly in the last decade, and prices remain competitive. Even so, this category requires particular care.
1. Check certifications carefully
Electronics often require certifications such as CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH or similar, depending on the destination country. Verify that the supplier can issue valid documentation and not just declarations of self-conformity.
2. Components and traceability
Confirm the origin of the main components (chips, capacitors, batteries). Reputable factories use components from known brands and can document their bill of materials.
3. Quality control and functional testing
An electronics inspection should not be limited to visual checks: functional tests, load tests and safety checks (insulation, temperature) are essential.
4. Warranty and after-sales
Agree warranty terms, spare parts policy and a procedure for handling returns. Without a clear agreement, claims become very difficult.
5. Lithium batteries and special transport
Devices with batteries are classified as dangerous goods and require specific transport documentation. Plan this from the beginning.
6. Intellectual property
Avoid copies of registered brands. Work only with suppliers offering original products or their own designs (ODM/OEM).
