Alibaba.com is the largest B2B platform in the world, with millions of suppliers. But not all of them are trustworthy. Knowing how to filter is key to finding good suppliers and avoiding scams.
Filters you should use
- Gold Supplier: suppliers that pay an annual subscription (basic verification at a minimum)
- Assessed Supplier: they have passed a third-party audit (SGS, TÜV)
- Trade Assurance: they offer payment protection through Alibaba
Warning signs
Be wary of suppliers that: offer prices well below the market, pressure you to close quickly, are unwilling to send samples, do not provide a verifiable physical address, or insist on payment via Western Union.
From Alibaba to the real factory
Alibaba is a starting point, not the final destination. Many Alibaba profiles are trading companies, not direct manufacturers. To verify, request factory photos, the business registration certificate and, if possible, arrange an on-site visit.
At MingTa Group we help our clients verify suppliers found on Alibaba through factory visits and audits.
