Quality Control / Pre-shipment Inspection
What is most feared by those of us who import from China? The answer is simple: the goods are defective.
There is basically no good way out of this problem. We cannot keep the products because they are of no use to us. We cannot return them either because it would cost us a lot of money and the supplier will most likely not accept them. Even getting rid of the merchandise is going to be an expense.
The solution is clear, perform a quality control

before shipment. This inspection costs very little money compared to what it may cost us not to do it and there are very few occasions where it is worth avoiding it.
Not only will it help to avoid surprises at destination, it also helps us to identify if a problem has occurred before boarding or during the trip. Let’s not forget that we normally contract the shipping with insurance and therefore damages during the trip would be covered.
Ideally, the company we hire to do the inspection should take photos, or even videos, and send them to us immediately via the Internet so that our quality manager can also approve the import. So for the same price we will have inspected the goods twice.
In conclusion, the importance of quality control at source should not be underestimated. Taking such a risk to save a little money is not something I would recommend to any importer.
