Buying scam in China: Find out if your supplier is a fraud.
Scammed online buying from China, your goods did not arrive and you do not know if your supplier is a fraud, you have made an import and the goods that arrived at your home are not the ones you paid for?
These are very normal cases of scams when buying in China. Many times we are contacted by suppliers and supposed manufacturers with outrageously cheap prices that later turn out to be a fraud.
Here is a short list of cases that should set off our alarm bells when it comes to avoiding fraud or scams when buying in China:
1- In case our contact has a reliable page on Alibaba, but when writing e-mails to you he does not use a company domain. If the email address ends in hotmail.com, gmail.com or anything else that doesn’t match your company name, you may not really work for them.
2- Another option is that the salesperson we are talking to has a supposedly serious company, with its own web page and very attractive prices. However, if payment is to be made by Western Union or a wire transfer to a personal account, it is a sure-fire scam. Sometimes they make up the invoice so that it looks like a company but if we look at the bank details we can see if we are really sending money to a person.
3- If you offer trademarks (Apple, Samsung, etc…) at a bargain price there are only two options. Either it is a fraud or it is counterfeit. No one in the world can sell original iPads at 100 USD, don’t get your hopes up.
